So if any of you have spent some time on Pinterest lately (and I am willing to bet my left arm that you have....), chances are you have seen dozens of pins of carefully crafted bento-style lunch containers containing gallery-worthy, piece of art sandwiches, carved fruit statues, and tiny nature-scenes built only of hummus and pita bread. Pacific Baby 3-in-1 Thermal Bottle

Every once in a while, a baby product comes along that I say to myself....hmm, do you think I could get away with using that for myself?? This is one of those days my friends. I am so excited to share with you my latest discover....Pacific Baby 3-in-1 Thermal Baby Bottles. Yes, thermal. By definition, that means that these puppies can keep contents either cool or warm for up to 10 hours!! And when you live in Phoenix, Arizona, you can only imagine how excited mamas will be about this product.


The first thing I noticed when I received these, was how super cute they are! I have multiple water bottles on my own rotation that look quite similar to these and there is nothing about them that screams, "Usual Baby Gear." Not only are these environmentally friendly bottles perfect for day on the go, but your little love will be the talk of the play date as they have a colorful,  trendy design (which come in both 4oz and 7oz sizes) made of bacteria-resistant ,vacuum insulate, stainless steel. And obviously, they are 110% healthy for baby since they are BPA, PVC, and Phthalate free

So, here is the coolest thing in my book....get ready for it.....

These bottles grow along with your little one! No need for 3 stages of plastic containers over flowing from your cabinets.... These puppies convert from wide-neck infant bottle, to beginner sippy cup, to toddler drinking bottle with the change of top. How awesome is that? Personally, I wish I had known about these when my oldest was making the transition out of bottles. Would have save me from some unsavory language whenever the dozens of plastic parts came raining down on me from the cabinets every time I went in search of a complete sippy cup. With this one, just switch out the top and go! With cold...or warm....drink in hand!

See what I mean? This handy-dandy product just may be in my own cup-holder more often than it is in my toddler's!

G-Baby Designs

When it comes to being crafty, today's Working Girl just may be the queen! This was truly a business started out of necessity....necessity to not be a public spectacle when co-owner Allie ventured out of the house with her three kiddos for the first time. She was a mama to a sweet 2 year old boy and beautiful newborn boy/girl twins. As any mama knows, when traveling with her cubs, the goal is to get in, get what you need, and get out....without any significant damage.  With newborns in tow, this mama knew she would need a  tool to help her achieve that goal. Allie sat herself in front of her sewing machine and made two car-seat canopies. The next time they ventured out, they did get stopped - but this time, it was by people asking where she had bought her canopies.  And that's how it all started...

 

G-baby Designs is truly a family based business, involving a daughter (Allie, mother of 3), her mother (Ellen, mother of 2), her mother-in-law (Denise, mother of 3) and LOTS of love. G-baby Designs is born out of the desire and passion to share stylish, functional baby products with other mothers. Tell us about your business...

"It is a family business, myself, mother and mother-in-law, that started out of the necessity of making fashionable, yet functional hand-made/sewn baby goods, and has now turned into a passion!"

 

 What did you do in your past life...before you launched your business?

"Grade 9 Biology teacher- LOVED teaching but so very excited at the chance to be home with my own kids!"

 

What made you decide to take the leap into being a business owner?

"I had made car seat canopies for my twins (as we were constantly getting stopped by onlookers due to two babies) BUT then we were getting stopped by inquires as to where we got the canopies... And had several people ask if we do custom orders. So just for fun...I went into look at fabrics and well, the rest is history"

 

What has been your greatest professional success to date?

"While in the grocery store, I was soo excited to see someone have one of our car seat canopies. Truth be told... I followed her up and down an aisle as I just wanted to be sure it was ours, so I asked her where she got it. She said it was a gift from her mother (who had gotten it at market) and said she loved it! I was just giddy with excitement!!"

 

 How about the biggest "lesson learned"?

"Everyone has very different taste and just because I may not like a combination of fabric, doesn't mean someone else won't. As well, by fabric in bulk - make at least 3 of whatever item in the same fabric, as it makes it so much easier for inventory and putting up in our online store (www.gbabydesigns.com)"

 

What is next on the horizon for your business?

"We just launched our online store and are anxious to see it in action. Next step is to get our name out there - to spread the word."

 

Where can we find you when you are not being Super Business Owner Woman??

"Trying to be a super mom! I had an amazing role model and see/hear of extraordinary mothers- daily , and I want my kids to have the most of their parents. Nowadays so many kids and parents miss out on family time due to schedules and busy work days/nights. I feel that us being the best for our kids is the best gift we can give them."

 

 If we were to run into you at a cocktail party, what would be your "party trick"?

"Making wickedly-awesome martinis! Mmmmmmmm!! I love creating fun and "dangerous" drinks ;)"

 

When someone asks you to tell a joke, what is your "go-to" one-liner?

"I have a 2 1/2 year old and 8 month old twins... Not sure of the joke but somehow it always seems to elicit laughter."

 

 If you could go back in time, what would you tell your 18 year-old self?

"I would say (after I finish chuckling at my naive 18year old self) "Buckle up! You have no idea what a crazy life you're gonna have!" And "Be strong and true and do what makes you happy""

Stones of Healing

There are some people in the world through whom creativity and artistic ability flow in abundance. They are able to capture the essence of a moment in a word, a photo, a painting, a piece of jewelry. They have the innate ability to make the intangible, tangible, and they allow us to touch and feel pure beauty in its rawest form. Without question, this ability is a true gift and not possessed by all.

Here is where I introduce you to Cara Laird. A native Tucsonan, a mama to two sweet little boys, and a true artist. Cara's passion for life had lead her to her current endeavor, Stones of Healing, a company which specializes in nursing necklaces and other wellness jewelry. Like so many of us aspire to do, Cara has found a way to live her life's passion through her work. She combines the elements of art, healing, and parenthood in her beautiful jewelry and is sharing them with the world.

It is my pleasure to introduce you all to Cara....

 Tell us about your business...

"I make baby-friendly jewelry for parents, i.e. mommy necklaces or nursing necklaces. I use natural gemstones and raw organic wood for most of my designs, and everything is made in my home in my spare time while I stay at home with my two little boys, ages 1 and 3 years."

 

What did you do in your past life...before you launched your business?

"I was a social worker. I worked in the mental health industry with high needs children, mostly in the foster care system. It was a rewarding but soul wrenching job."

 

 What made you decide to take the leap into being a business owner?

"I went back to work part time after my first son was born, but found the transition difficult and hated leaving him, pumping, and just all of it! I needed something I could do at home with him, and making jewelry was a long time hobby of mine. I also realized most of my usual jewelry could not stand up to being worn with a baby in tow, hence the baby/mommy friendly aspect of my designs."

 

What has been your greatest professional success to date?

"I did not invent the concept of the mommy or nursing necklace, but I have created some my own totally unique designs that have become extremely popular! Although other shops have copied some of my designs, such as the Stone in Wood nursing necklace, I am proud to be the original designer of such unique and popular concepts. (Imitation = flattery, right? ;))"

 

How about the biggest "lesson learned"?

"I am still learning the lesson of balance, between my home life and family and my business. Working at home can be challenging in that it is ALWAYS there with you, so it is difficult to separate the responsibilities at times."

 

 What is next on the horizon for your business?

"I am always looking for new inspiration. My husband and I are considering several concepts right now to either expand the current business, or to open a totally separate online shop. We enjoy creating and look forward to actualizing some of our newest ideas!"

Li'l Helper Baby Bottle Holder

As a "veteran" mama (I have a whopping 3 years and 7 months under my belt) there are very few baby products on the market that I have not seen at least 3 different iterations of at various baby showers, play groups, or mama meetings. But every once in a while, a product comes across my radar that makes me stop and think..."Well now, isn't that cool?"

One product that made me do just that, is a little something called the Li'l Helper Baby Bottle Holder. When I saw this product for the first time, I immediately thought of the day my brother-in-law came into our living room with his first born in her carrier. She was about 6 months old and, like a rookie parent,  he had driven her cross town to our home during mealtime. Classic lesson to be learned there...

Rather than have her cry mercilessly in the back seat while he drove, he had managed to prop her bottle on a blanket in a way that she could easily sip from it as she wished....unless he hit a bump...or turned a corner too quickly.....or tapped the brakes. Then, all bets were off and he would once again have a hungry, cranky, baby on his hands. I will admit, it made me giggle....especially since I myself had a 9 month old at the time. If only he had had a Li'l Helper.

This super handy contraption allows even the busiest of parents to multitask while still providing the best of care to their little love. For parents of multiples or those with multiple kiddos close in age, it takes the frenzy out of feeding time allowing you to tend to two (or more) children at the same time....kinda like an extra hand.....how many times have I asked Santa for one of those in recent years?

Besides the convenience factor, this gadget is just cute! It's chic design is eye catching and is also quite ergonomic. Now, where is my time travel machine?? If I ever find it, I am taking myself right back to that day in our living room with my tired, worn-out looking, new father, of a brother-in-law, and I will proudly bestow upon him a Li'l Helper. Something tells me this will be one of those products that I turn to my own children as they are holding my grand kids and say "Now, where was that when you kids were little?"
